Exciting stories - Fullt af skemmtilegum sögum

This creation was made by class 3.D. in January and shows the bonfire of the New Year's Eve and all the elves and hidden people that are moving that night. The tutor was Dóra Þórláksdóttir class-teacher.

The pupils of Digranesskóli have been busy studying folktales and using them as a source of inspiration for there creativity. The 3rd graders have been studying giants. They have both made drawings, their own personal story and ceramic figures to go with their tales. Their work was tutored by teaching candidates from the University of Ecucation. Class 1.Þ. studied the story of Gissur á Botnum (the farmer that was almost caught by a giantess) and 1.K. Trunt, trunt og tröllin í fjöllunum (also a story of peasants and a giantess). Class 5.R. made a wonderful puppet show of the well-known story of Búkolla, the initiative cow, and 5.J. made a beautiful book with drawings on the story of the 12 sea-cows in Höfði. The 6th grade made a PP show that is based on drawings on a Portuguese folktale (made by the Portuguese children) and a Finnish text to them; in addition 6.AJ made puppets to go with this story, 6Á. on the other hand prepaired a ghost story which will be staged tonight. So you see that we have been really busy and have a lot to show to our partners. It will be exciting to see what our partners in Europe have done in their schools.

Now the Easter holidays are approaching, the school closes tomorrow (March 14) and will not open until the 26th. Soon after that, to be exact the 1st of April, we will get two visitors, Rosy and Sonia, from Cordenons. We welcome them and hope that they will have a nice stay here and learn a lot of Iceland and Icelandic culture, which they can mediate to their pupils in Italy.

I wish you all Happy Easter Holidays
